Staff Biographical Information:
A ball scarred garage
door was really the starting point of
Sportz Plus Canada, when Pastor Dave's
neighbour came to his front door and
complained about all the kids playing
ball hockey in the driveway with Pastor
Dave's two sons. The neighbour thought it
was noisy, and he was probably right,
but in the noise of kids having fun
playing ball hockey came the realization
that there was also opportunity for
ministry.
With two willing parents who shared
the vision and the workload, the first
church ball hockey league was launched
in the community. Nearly 15 years later,
as co-founder of Sportz Plus
Canada,
Pastor Dave still is excited about the
ministry opportunities that recreational
sports provide the local church to reach
unchurched kids with the "Good
News'.
Pastor Dave has been
involved in ministry for over 30 years
in a variety of ways: as a youth pastor,
a pastor, a church planter, the
executive director of a diverse national
ministry, and then back to his passion
as a pastor of a local church which he
co-pastors with his wife Donna.
When he is not refereeing
ball hockey or basketball games, or involved
in some other type of ministry, Pastor
Dave can be found playing with his grand
children.
 Hailing
from Winnipeg, Manitoba Josh is the co-founder
of Sportz Plus
Canada.
He has been serving in youth ministry
for the last six years; and, is entering
his second year as Youth Director for a
Salvation Army Community Church in
southern Ontario.
In
addition to his work with Sportz
Plus Canada,
Josh has also written and developed
several “Adventure Club” and summer
camp curriculum, as well as his own
Christmas advent video series.
Although
he enjoys serving in other capacities,
sports ministry remains his passion. His
love for using sports to relate the
Gospel message to kids has earned him
the name of “Coach” among his peers
and youth.
Josh
is a devoted supporter of the Anaheim
Ducks, L.A Lakers; and, is often seen
driving around while singing along to
various Fred Penner CD’s.
